It's peel season!

As we say goodbye to summer and transition into fall, we ender what is known in the skin care world as peel season. “Peel Season” is fun little term in the skincare world that simply implies the ideal time of the year for deep

exfoliation - and that would be the fall and winter months (the best months IMO). As summer ends, we experience shorter days meaning there is less sun exposure and the risk of sun damage is lower. The cooler weather provides an ideal environment for your skin to recover for a deeper peel. Although, we still encourage one to be diligent with sun screen application, and further sun protection like a wide brimmed hat even if it is winter to protect your skin and boost your results!

Fall is a good time to address skin concerns that may have arisen during the summer, such as discoloration, fine lines, dryness, and skin laxity. Chemical peels can also help rejuvenate your skin, revealing a fresher, more youthful complexion. The peel works to remove dead skin cells, which can make skin look dull and uneven, and encourages the growth of new, healthy skin cells.

While peels aren’t something we recommend doing at home necessarily, there are some “peels”, aka chemical exfoliation, that can be done at home that can be beneficial for the skin. This might include things like a peel pad - we love Skin Scripts Glycolic Retinol or Clarifying peel pads! Pro tip, once you’ve applied it to the face, the remaining product left can be swiped on the back of the hands or even backs of the arms to help with any uneven texture or uneven skin tone. In the office we highly recommend Face Reality treatments which include peels for those that are acne prone, the Perfect Derma Peel - a medium depth peel where you see shedding of the skin for about a week to reveal fresh, rejuvenated skin beneath, or the Biorepeel which is a 35% TCA no downtime peel if you’re in the market for something a little stronger that will give your skin that extra boost + brightening!
